Wordsearch

The first published wordsearch appeared in 1968 and, since then, the puzzle has soared in popularity to become possibly the most-played puzzle in recent times. The objective is simple – find all of the listed words in a grid of letters. The words may be placed horizontally, vertically or diagonally and the puzzles often have a theme to which all of the words are related.

There are a number of variations on the standard wordsearch, such as different shaped grids; finding the word or words related to the puzzle theme not included within the grid; or using the unused letters to form another word or secret message. However, regular wordsearch puzzles are most popular.
