1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this Promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.



2. Entry is only open to residents of Australia and New Zealand. Entrants under the age of 18 years must have prior parental or legal guardian consent to enter and, further, the parent/guardian of the Entrant must read and consent to these Terms and Conditions. Parents/guardians may be required by the Promoter to enter into a further agreement as evidence of consent to the minor entering this promotion. 3. The Promotion commences on 3 July 2014 and closes at 17:00pm (AEDST) on 17 November 2014 ("Promotional Period"). The draw will take place on 24 November 2014 at Direct Response Australia, Unit D, 65 Reserve Road, Artarmon, NSW 2064 at 4:00pm (AEDST). The Winners will be notified in writing within two (2) business days of the draw, and by telephone, using the contact details given in their entry. Winners' names (for prizes over AU$250) will be published in The Australian on 28 November 2014. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Australian Residents: Entrants must complete the Gift Card Puzzle and then write the solution on the official coupon, found within each participating puzzle book during the Promotional Period, and then send the completed coupon with their details, including their name, address and daytime telephone number, to Puzzler Gift Card Giveaway, GPO Box 3749, Sydney, NSW 2004.

New Zealand Residents: Entrants must complete the Gift Card Puzzle and then write the solution on the official coupon, found within each participating puzzle book during the Promotional Period, and then send the completed coupon with their details, including their name, address and daytime telephone number, to Puzzler Gift Card Giveaway, Private Bag 92-217, Auckland Mail Centre, Auckland, NZ.

5. Multiple entries permitted; however each entry must be submitted separately on an original coupon and in accordance with entry requirements. Each entry must be posted in a separate stamped envelope and contain an official entry coupon. Each solution must be correct in order for that entry to be valid.

6. The Promoter is neither responsible nor liable for late, lost or misdirected entries, or entries not received by the Promoter for any reason whatsoever. Original copies of entries will not be returned to the Entrant after Judging has been completed.

7. The Promoter, in its absolute discretion, reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and Entrants (including an Entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any Entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure of the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

8. Incomplete, indecipherable or illegible entries will be deemed invalid.

9. Prizes: 

Winning entries drawn for Australian residents will be awarded the prize in the form of a Coles Myer Gift Card in Australian dollars. In the event winning Entrants drawn are New Zealand residents, the prize will be awarded in the form of Countdown Gift Cards in NZ dollars.

  • The first (1) valid and correct entry drawn from all valid entries received will win $1,000 Gift Card. 
  • The next fifteen (15) valid and correct entries drawn will each win a $200 Gift Card. 
  • The next twenty (20) valid and correct entries drawn will each win a $50 Gift Card. 

Total prize pool is valued at $5,000 (including taxes). Any ancillary costs associated with redeeming the prize are not included. These are the responsibility of the Winner.

10. Vouchers are valid for six (6) months from the date of issue. Redemption of the voucher prizes are be subject to the terms and conditions stipulated on the voucher. The Promoter will not be liable for any voucher that has been lost, stolen, forged, damaged or tampered with in any way. Any ancillary costs associated with redeeming a voucher are not included. Any unused balance of the voucher will not be awarded as cash.

11. Prize must be taken as offered. The prize, or any unused portion of the prize, is not exchangeable or cannot be redeemed as cash. The prize cannot be used in conjunction with any other special offer. The prize is valued in Australian dollars. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in the prize value. Prize Winner is advised that tax implications may arise from their prize winnings and they should seek independent financial advice prior to acceptance of their prize. In the event that a portion of the prize is awarded to the Winner in the form of a voucher/ticket/pass/letter, redemption of that portion of the prize will be subject to the terms and conditions stipulated on the voucher/ticket/pass/letter. The Promoter will not be liable for any voucher/ticket/pass/letter that has been lost, stolen, forged, damaged or tampered with in any way. Redemption of prize at a venue is subject to the standard rules and regulations of that venue/s.

12. The prize will be delivered to the nominated address of the prize Winner. Delivery of the prize is valid to any state and/or city in Australia or New Zealand.

13. If the Winner is under the age of 18 years, the prize will be awarded to the Winner’s parent or legal guardian on behalf of the Winner. It is the responsibility of the Winner’s parent/legal guardian to prove their parental status/legal guardianship at the time of Winner notification. In the event that for any reason whatsoever a person/s mistakenly represents themselves to be a Winner's parent and/or legal guardian, then that person will be liable for all costs associated with relocating and/or re-awarding the prize (including but not limited to any administrative fees incurred by the Promoter). Where relevant, the Promoter is only responsible for ensuring that the prize is awarded to a person who is either a parent or legal guardian of the Winner. The Promoter is not responsible for determining any other delivery details or taking direction that relates to any ongoing family law negotiations and/or determinations. These are the responsibility of the Winner and their respective parent/s and/or legal guardian/s.

14. Prize is subject to the standard terms and conditions of individual prize and service providers.

15. In the event that for any reason whatsoever the Winner does not take the prize at the time stipulated by the Promoter, then the prize will be forfeited by the Winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu of the prize.

16. In the event that a prize, or part of a prize, is unavailable, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize or part of the prize in its discretion with an alternative prize or part of the prize to the same and equal recommended retail value and/or specification subject to any written directions from the various Lottery Departments.

17. The promoter is neither responsible nor liable for any late, lost or misdirected mail (including but not limited to prizes).

18. The Promoter is not responsible nor liable for any prize damaged in transit in the delivery of their prize.

19. If necessary, an unclaimed prize draw will be held on 27 February 2015 at the same time and place as the original draw in order to distribute any unclaimed prizes, subject to any directions from a regulatory authority. Winners, if any are required, will be notified by telephone and in writing using the contact details provided in their entry within two (2) business days of the draw. Winners' names (for prizes over AU$250) will be published in The Australian on 5 March 2015.

20. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in the State and Territories of Australia ("Non-Excludable Guarantees"). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Promotion.

21. Any cost associated with accessing the promotional website is the Entrant’s responsibility and is dependent on the Internet Service Provider used.

22. Unless otherwise due to fraud or ineligibility under these Terms and Conditions, all valid prize claims in excess of the advertised prize pool will be honoured. All advertised instant prizes will be awarded.

23. Printing and other quality control errors will not invalidate an otherwise valid prize claim. In the event of a query as to the validity of an entry, the judges will determine whether or not the entry is to be deemed valid, taking into consideration all mitigating circumstances and knowledge available to them at the time of the Judging. No correspondence will be entered into.

24. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, war, terrorism, state of emergency or disaster (including but not limited to natural disaster) the Promoter reserves the right to subject to reference to all relevant State and Territory rules and regulations, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Promotion.

25. If a medical circumstance in some way restricts your ability to enter the competition through the required mechanic, you are still eligible to enter; however you must briefly state your circumstances upon entry.

26. If your entry is selected as a winning entry, validation of your circumstances/the validity of your entry will be undertaken by the Promoter. Method of validation (without limitation) will be determined by the Promoter in its complete discretion. If the winning entry is deemed to be a winner, the Winner will be notified as per the Terms and Conditions herein. In the event that the Promoter requests the Entrant to sign any legal documents relating to the verification of their medical circumstance, the legal documents will take the form determined by the Promoter. 30. The Promoter collects personal information (“PI”) in order to conduct the Promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such PI to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, prize suppliers and, as required, to Australian regulatory authorities. 1. Information on how to enter and prize form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this Promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.



2. Entry is only open to residents of Australia and New Zealand, who purchase any current edition featuring the Car Giveaway logo on the cover of the puzzle books mentioned in clause 4 during the entire Promotional Period. Entrants under the age of 18 years must have prior parental or legal guardian consent to enter. Employees (and immediate families) of Bauer Media Ltd, Bauer Media Media and agencies associated with this Promotion are ineligible to enter.

3. The Promotion commences on 26 December 2013 and all entries must be received by 17:00 (Australian Eastern Daylight savings time) on 30 June 2014. The Winners will be drawn at 11:00 AM (Australian Eastern Standard time) on 2 July 2014 at Direct Response Australia, Unit D, 65 Reserve Road, Artarmon, NSW 2064. The prize Winner will be notified in writing within two (2) business days of the draw and their name will be published in the public notices section of The Australian on 11 July 2014. The Promoter's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The Winner will be notified in writing and by telephone using the contact details given in their entry.

5. Multiple entries permitted, subject to the following: (a) only one (1) entry permitted per specified purchase requirement; and (b) each entry must be submitted separately on an original coupon and in accordance with entry requirements.

6. Original copies of entries will not be returned to the Entrant after Judging has been completed.

7. Incomplete, indecipherable or illegible entries will be deemed invalid.

8. Entrants must retain their original product barcode(s) and their valid purchase receipt(s) for all entries as proof of purchase. Failure to produce the required barcode(s) and a valid purchase receipt for all entries when requested may, in the absolute discretion of the Promoter, result in invalidation of ALL of an Entrant's entries and forfeiture of any right to a prize. Each entry must relate to a separate qualifying purchase.

9. As a condition of entering this Promotion, each Entrant licences the Promoter to use their entry in any media for an unlimited period for any reason including but not limited to future promotional, marketing or publicity purposes. Each Entrant warrants to the Promoter that each entry submitted is an original literary work of the Entrant that does not infringe the rights of any third party.  Entrants agree to indemnify the Promoter against all costs and claims by third parties arising from a breach of this warranty. Entrants consent to any use of their entry which may otherwise infringe their moral rights pursuant to the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth).

10. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and Entrants (including an Entrant's identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any Entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Errors and omissions will be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

11. The first (1) drawn valid entry from all valid entries received will be deemed the major prize Winner and will win:

In the event the first (1) winner drawn is an Australian resident, this person will win:

Mirage ES – Auto Transmission valued at up to $10,881 (including GST valued at up to $1,088) and including On Road Costs valued at up to $1,280

Total prize pool is valued at up to AUD$13,249

In the event the first (1) winner drawn is a New Zealand resident, this person will win:

Mirage LS – Auto Transmission valued at up to $14,687 (including GST valued at up to $2,203) and On Road Costs valued at up to $407.00 

Total prize pool is valued at up to NZD$17,297

12. Prize includes standard fittings, registration, compulsory third party insurance, stamp duty and dealer delivery charges (which may vary State by State). Any ancillary costs associated with redeeming this prize are the responsibility of the Winner. All optional extras and accessories, comprehensive insurance and any other insurance not stated as included in the prize, fuel, personal costs and any other ancillary associated with redeeming the prize are excluded and are the responsibility of the Winner.

13. Winner must have a current valid Australian or New Zealand driver's license. If the Winner is, through any legal incapacity or otherwise, unable to register the car in their own name, then such Winner may assign the motor vehicle prize to another person (who consents to such assignment) with legal capacity for the purpose of registration. The Promoter takes no responsibility for any such arrangements between the Winner and the assignee. The Winner must provide the Promoter with certified copies of all required documentation as required by the Promoter before the car is awarded.

14. The vehicle prize excludes any optional extras. The vehicle colour is at the discretion of supplier and will be based on availability. Subject to agreement by the supplying dealer, stock availability and subject to the Winner agreeing to pay any additional amount requested by the dealer, the Winner may upgrade the vehicle optional extras and accessories. Except as expressly stated in these Conditions, the supplying dealer will not provide a substitute model. The supplying dealer will not exchange the vehicle for cash.

15. The Car depicted in all promotional material is not necessarily the same colour or grade as the prize. The external and interior colour of the prize is subject to availability. The Winner will not be able to select the vehicle colour or transmission type; this will be determined by the Promoter.

16. The Promoter takes no responsibility for any mechanical, body or paint repairs from the date and time of delivery.

17. Unless expressly stated within these Conditions, all expenses incurred in relation to the vehicle prize (including insurance) are the responsibility of the Winner.

18. Prize values are correct at time of printing/submission; no responsibility is accepted for any variation in the value of any prizes.

19. The prize supplier is not liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered, including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss, or for personal injury suffered or sustained during the course of accepting or using the prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.

20. The Winner must provide all information and sign all documentation necessary to enable Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited to register the prize in the Winner's name prior to collection. Receipt of the prize is subject to the Winner being able to lawfully take possession of the prize and comply with all registration and compulsory third party insurance requirements of the State/Territory in which the Winner elects to register the prize.

21. The Winner of the prize must collect it from the nominated dealer and it must be registered prior to collection. Any number plate details used in the promotion of the Competition are representational only.  If the Winner is unable to collect the vehicle, the winner may incur cost of transporting the vehicle, if needed, from their nearest dealership to an alternate prize claim point as nominated by the Winner and deemed acceptable by the Promoter. Any costs associated with the transport of the vehicle to an alternate location will be responsibility of the Winner.

22. In acceptance of the prize, the Winner acknowledges that they may incur ongoing costs associated with the prize which are the entire responsibility of the Winner.

23. It is a condition of winning that the prize Winner provides the Promoter with their full name, address, license and a copy of their current Australian or New Zealand driver's license prior to the awarding of the prize.

24. Prize is subject to the standard terms and conditions of Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited.

General terms

25. Prize is subject to the standard terms and conditions of individual prize and service providers.

26. In the event that for any reason whatsoever the Winner does not take the prize at the time stipulated by the Promoter, then the Winner will forfeit the prize and cash will not be awarded in lieu of the prize.

27. In the event that a prize, or part of a prize, is unavailable, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize or part of the prize in its discretion with an alternative prize or part of the prize to the same and equal recommended retail value and/or specification subject to any written directions from the various Lottery Departments.

28. The Promoter is neither responsible nor liable for any late, lost or misdirected mail (including but not limited to prizes).

29. The Promoter is neither responsible nor liable for any prize damaged in transit in the delivery of their prize.

30. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, war, terrorism, state of emergency or disaster (including but not limited to natural disaster) the Promoter reserves the right to subject to reference to all relevant State and Territory rules and regulations, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Promotion.

31. If a medical circumstance in some way restricts your ability to enter the competition through the required mechanic, you are still eligible to enter; however you must briefly state your circumstances upon entry.

32. If your entry is selected as a winning entry, validation of your circumstances/the validity of your entry will be undertaken by the Promoter. Method of validation (without limitation) will be determined by the Promoter in its complete discretion. If the winning entry is deemed to be a winner, the Winner will be notified as per the Terms and Conditions herein. In the event that the Promoter requests the Entrant to sign any legal documents relating to the verification of their medical circumstance, the legal documents will take the form determined by the Promoter. It is a condition of accepting the prize that the Winner signs any such legal documentation.

33. As this is an event-based prize, if necessary, an unclaimed prize draw will be held on 6 October 2014 at the same time and place as the original draw in order to distribute any unclaimed prizes. Any Winner from this draw will be notified by email and their name will be published in the public notices section of The Australian on 9 October 2014.

34. Any cost associated with accessing the promotional website is the Entrant's responsibility and is dependent on the Internet Service Provider used.

35. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in the State and Territories of Australia ("Non-Excludable Guarantees"). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Promotion.

36. Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) is not responsible for and excludes all liability (including negligence) for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter's control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) any tax liability incurred by a Winner or Entrant; or (f) use of the prize.

37. If this Promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) to disqualify any Entrant; or (b) subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Promotion, as appropriate.

38. The Promoter collects personal information in order to conduct the Promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including, but not limited to, agents, contractors, service providers, prize suppliers and, as required, to Australian regulatory authorities. Entry is conditional on providing this information. The Promoter may, for an indefinite period, unless otherwise advised, use the information for promotional, marketing, publicity, research and profiling purposes, including sending electronic messages or telephoning the Entrant. Entrants should direct any request to opt out, access, update or correct information to the Promoter. All entries become the property of the Promoter.

39.  All entries become the property of the Promoter. The collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided in connection with this Promotion is governed by the Privacy Notice (see www.bauer-media.com.au/privacy/ for location of Privacy Notice).

40. By entering this Promotion, the Entrant consents to receipt of any email regarding the Promotion, and other emails which inform the Entrant of the Promoter's other publications, products, services and events and to promote third party goods and services it may be interested in.
