Helen O'Connor
I have worked at Puzzler since June 2002. During this time I have taken part in checking and monitoring clues used in most puzzles, have created many clues of my own, and have also assisted in compiling and updating our guide to house style, as well as some specialist publications designed for crossword enthusiasts. I am currently responsible for all time-dependent clues, and for ensuring that the content of wordsearch puzzles is accurate and relevant.
My background in translation and information work has always involved a fair amount of problem-solving, and this is perhaps why I've found puzzles a challenge and a fascination. And ancient history, in which I'm particularly interested, has always been about solving puzzles – just look at the Rosetta Stone or Egyptian hieroglyphs. I like nothing better than a good, tough general knowledge crossword: my favourite has to be the Yorkshire Post crossword, compiled by our Puzzler colleague Roger Prebble. Given half a chance, I will happily take part in the most challenging of pub quizzes. When not at Puzzler, I have many interests and my main aim is to see as much of the world as possible.
