Also known as:
A story crossword is a narrative with missing words. The objective is to identify the missing words. These can either be guessed from their context, or deduced by cross-referencing the accompanying grid.
The story is generally a biographical narrative, but any passage of writing will do; for example, one magazine publishes a short story on a crime theme.
In good puzzles, the narrative will be well-written; there will be no sentences contrived for the sole purpose of fixing an improbable word in the grid. The missing words should all be key words from the narrative (ie, relevant to the story), with no conjunctions and no unlikely modifiers.
