This observation puzzle appeared in the first issue of Puzzler, in 1972, featuring the simple line drawings of the Belgian artist, known as Laplace. His artwork proved to be extremely popular. Over the years, many artists have produced more sophisticated illustrations, but Laplace's artwork retains a special charm.
In recent times, the digital manipulation of photographic images has become possible and skilled designers have added a new dimension to this evergreen puzzle.
