Francesca Clementis

I have worked at Puzzler for 12 years. For seven years I worked on a number of magazines including Puzzler Collection and Chat Puzzles with Prizes. For the past five years I've edited Puzzler Collection and Puzzler Code Words. I've always loved puzzles but I have a particular passion for cryptic crosswords. I was introduced to these by my dad when I was 13 and we shared this pleasure for the rest of his life. I am now passing on this family tradition by forcing my 13-year-old daughter, Freya, to abandon her computer occasionally and pick up a puzzle magazine. (She prefers Puzzler Brain Trainer to either of my titles – she clearly has no sense of loyalty!)

Before I came to Puzzler I worked in advertising while struggling to make my name as a writer. I've since had six books published and also write scripts for BBC's daytime drama Doctors. This means I don't have a lot of free time but I try to see every musical that opens in the West End, read American crime fiction (Harlan Coben is a favourite), indulge in origami, never miss church on Sunday, clean up the kitchen after Freya's catastrophic attempts at cooking, and always find time for a glass of New Zealand wine and a Walnut Whip.
