Charles Sloan
I have worked for Puzzler since 1999. My first project was compiling assorted puzzles for a series of compendiums in paperback book format. Since then I have been involved with magazines. I currently edit Puzzler Quick Crosswords and 100 Codewords, as well as sub-editing Puzzle Corner Special and lending Sally Townsend and Caroline Hunter a hand with Q Code Words and Q Arroword Selection respectively.
Puzzles have been part of my life since childhood. As a boy I looked forward to the pre-dinner hour when our family would gather in the drawing room to tackle the daily newspaper's cryptic crossword together, my father reading the clues aloud.
My CV before I came to Puzzler included a Bachelor's degree in English, followed by 23 years in the saddlery business. As a sideline, and an antidote to the cut and thrust of commerce, I developed an interest in massage into formal training and a qualification. I practised professionally after leaving the retail trade, but nowadays just keep my hand in (as it were) with family and friends.
